The rolling 6 month sales statistic is calculated by adding the previous 6 months of unit sales for the month shown. For example, The June 2004 figure shown on the graph represents the total unit sales from January 2004 through June 2004. The July 2004 figure shown represents total unit sales from February 2004 through July 2004, etc. I use this statistic because it tends to take away monthly fluctuations and presents a cleaner trend line, better reflecting, I think, the direction of volume.
